What's the difference between a headshot session & personal branding?
Headshots are generally straightforward portraits focused on the person’s face, with the intent to communicate a sense of credibility and professionalism. They’re often used on company websites on the “team” or “about us” page, or on someone’s LinkedIn profile. These are important applications. I’ve seen too many professionally designed websites ruined by headshots that are poorly done.

Personal branding photos though, are more about telling the story of who you are, what you do, and why you’re dependable, relatable, accessible, and trustworthy. Outfit and location changes, the use of props, deliberate use of expression, mood, lighting, location, color theory, and more. The focus of personal branding photos doesn’t have to – and shouldn’t be – *only the subject’s face. They should create a context for understanding the subject’s values, and differentiate them from their competitors. In the end, these images should help boost loyalty and engagement, and create an increase in sales and revenue.

How many outfits should I prepare?
The number of looks we shoot is entirely up to you. But fundamentally, the more variety, the better. Multiple looks or outfits help cast you in a different light, and help your customers or followers see the multi-faceted business person or leader you actually are. All of us are more than one thing. The combination of a casual look, a business look, and a polished weekend look can go a long way toward helping your target demographic see who you really are, and relate you to in a more authentic way.

Also, it’s important to consider where and how you intend to put your images to work. If your goal is to show up consistently on social media (very important, by the way), then the more outfits the better, AND the more images, the better.

What final product will I receive after our photo shoot?
For personal branding sessions, our goal is to provide you with images that can be used across a variety of online platforms – your website, your LinkedIn profile, your social media channels, your blog, and more. Your final product will be high-resolution, fully retouched digital files.
